MISSION
The Department of Phytopathology and Nematology (LFN) aims to train highly qualified professionals to face challenges in the context of the different courses offered by the Institution (Agriculture, Forestry Engineering, Biological Sciences, Environmental Management and Food Science). LFN is committed to providing excellence in education, enabling both undergraduate and graduate students to reach their full intellectual potential concerning fundamental and up-to-date knowledge in Plant Pathology. Additionally, it seeks to facilitate connections with various sectors of the private and public job market, particularly the phytosanitary sector, which is a strong area of the Department. To achieve this, it also relies on scientific research, primarily focused on understanding and controlling economically significant plant diseases, as well as extension activities through two clinics associated with phytopathology.
VISION
Our vision is to continue being a reference in Brazil for the training of highly qualified professionals in the field of plant health, conducting research in strategic areas, and proposing actions to solve phytosanitary problems.
VALUES
Ethics, dedication, and excellence in research and teaching, harmony in the work environment, and efficiency in management are our core values within the Department of Phytopathology and Nematology.
